Charles Darwin advocated the theory that homosapiens originated from the
apes. This theory is well supported by the mere sight of its descendants, the Darwin IV.
Room 14 is a mixture of blood, sweat, and tears.
Well, it happens (modesty aside) that we have two of the school commandant's "aide-de-camp",
commanders Apat (Desz) and Otina-Uj (Johnny), backed by two smart sargeants
(Chinky and Rita R.) and a flagbearer, Imo. We are also gifted with the two
editors-in-chief, the multi-awarded essay writer Conchang Pikit (Athena) of
the Electron and Orator of the Year Epang (Marilou) of the Banyuhay, two
regular Science Fair winners, Baboy and Mutley (Elmo and Roy) and Class 77's
most orderly girl and Actress of the Year Eva Fonda 16 (Rita A.). We have
also a fairy tale true-to-life- "Three Little Pigs", Sheila, Elmo, and
Catherine, who have grown fatter for the better; a kitchen's cooking
aid-Toyo (Gabriel), penoy (Edwin and Beng). What's more, Room 14 is the
sanctuary of two "communist terrorists", Felix and Feng; an institution for
a lone aged man, Mr. Oker Ballaker (Romeo), and an asylum for the neurotics,
headed by Raul "Malala"!
How about the club managed by Madame Tse-Tse (Esper)?
Those girls wouldn't let a single "big spender" slip out of their sight. As the promoter of
this club (Marvi) once said, "All of us had agreed to do anything for money"
(biro lang).
After a year of being together, we have discovered
that we all react to the same stimuli, that is, we laugh when there is something
to laugh at and be serious when the situation calls for it. Our moods really change with
the day. That is why, we really admire our singing adviser (Miss Cervera)
for being so patient and understanding. Without her our class would have
ended up into a bunch of troublemakers.
This is not an indictment nor is it a commendation. But I tell you, several years from now, when this bunch will be our nation's prime movers, the country will then be in good hands.
